Ethiopia is a region that people in the speciality coffee industry get very excited about - and especially coffees from the region of Yirgacheffe. We have heard many stories of Yirgacheffe coffees being the gateway into speciality for many people, draw in by the intensely floral and sweet profiles common to the region, and this years harvest feels like a throwback to where it all began for so many. Over the years the region has developed a distinguished reputation for fine coffees, producing some of the most sought-after microlots in the world. The combination of high altitude (up to 2,200m in some areas), fertile soil, consistent and plentiful rains, and an abundance of local knowledge are all contributing factors to the high status of Yirgacheffe coffees. The indigenous ‘heirloom’ varietals - which grow wild in Ethiopia - are responsible for the unique flavour notes

Banko Gotiti is a wetmill located in the Kochere district of Yirgacheffe. Managed by Alemu Bukato it process’ cherries from over 650 local farmers and has established itself a reputation for consistently excellent coffees. This is the fourth year that we have bought coffee from Banko Gotiti and it is one of the places we look forward to sampling the most each year.

This natural lot has a complex earl grey like profile with notes of deep red fruit, like pomegranate, and jasmine like finish.

*Our coffee is freshly roasted each week and orders are dispatched on Tuesday and Thursday for orders received by 12pm the day before.
